Ash & Elm Preschool is looking for a dependable, warm and energetic Part-Time Preschool Assistant Teacher to support our weekday preschool program serving young children. This is a hands-on classroom support position. We're looking for someone who genuinely enjoys working with young children, works well as part of a small team, and can reliably support our lead teacher with the daily classroom routine. What you'll do Assist the lead teacher with classroom activities and learning centers; supervise and engage children during play and structured activities; help with transitions, setup and classroom cleanup; support children's social-emotional development and positive behavior; help maintain a safe, welcoming and organized classroom; assist with arrival, dismissal and other daily routines; and step in wherever classroom support is needed.

Schedule:

Approximately 8-12 hours per week, primarily weekday mornings. Based on your current schedule, I'd advertise availability around 8:45 AM-1:30 PM Monday through Friday, while making clear that actual scheduled days/hours will vary based on enrollment and staffing needs. Hours are part-time and are not guaranteed. Compensation $18/hour. This is a part-time position. We're looking for someone who: enjoys working with children approximately ages 2-6; is patient, attentive, dependable and positive; communicates well with children, parents and coworkers; is comfortable taking direction from the Lead Teacher/Manager; can actively participate in classroom activities rather than simply supervise; is dependable with attendance and punctuality; and can meet applicable Washington requirements for working in a preschool/childcare environment. Prior preschool, daycare, childcare, nannying, camp, paraeducator or similar experience is preferred.
