About us School Connect WA is a mission driven nonprofit corporation dedicated to fundamentally transforming the lives of children in under-resourced communities starting in Seattle and South King County. It takes a passionate team inspired by faith, mission and core values to achieve our goals.
- Program Assistant Overview
- School Connect WA is seeking an innovative and dedicated professional to support the Site Director of a top-tier afterschool program designed to support low-income, BIPOC elementary students.
As the Program Assistant, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the successful execution of all academic and enrichment initiatives. Your work will directly contribute to the academic advancement of each student, ensuring they graduate at or above grade level in literacy and math. The best Program Assistants are drawn to School Connect WA because they already believe something important: that educational inequity is real, that children living in poverty and historically marginalized communities often face systemic barriers long before middle school or high school, and that education changes lives. They choose School Connect WA not because it is another job, but because it offers meaningful work with lasting purpose.
- Experience
- 1-2 years of experience working in academic-focused afterschool programs or teaching elementary-aged students in a classroom setting. Strong interpersonal skills with both adults and students. Fluency in a second language is a valuable asset and will enhance the ability to connect with the diverse communities we serve.
- Alignment
- Must agree with the School Connect WA mission and methodology: Creating affordable, high-quality afterschool programs for underserved youth, that connect the whole city to schools, so that every child and family can flourish.
Key connections that drive city-wide transformation: We connect churches to schools establishing long-term partnerships. Churches are essential community partners. School-Church partnerships empower congregations to impact their communities through love, justice, and serving the common good. We connect students to the academic and enrichment resources they need to succeed by providing affordable, high-quality afterschool programming. We connect organizations across all sectors of the city (e.g. local businesses, healthcare, arts, and technology, etc.) to their nearest Seattle Public School. When these "tables" gather around the needs of schools, they make a BIG impact.
