Job Description

Fremont Community School (FCS) , a Waldorf-based preschool in Seattle, Washington, is seeking individuals interested in a career in early childhood education. Summer Assistant Teacher -
Outdoor Preschool :
Part-time Compensation :
$25 to $27 an hour depending upon qualifications Paid Holidays and Time Off Employer sponsored Retirement Plan Start date: June 1st-End date: Aug 28th
Hours:
8:45am to 1:15pm Monday through Friday Opportunity for additional hours and benefits
Job Summary :
The Assistant Teacher works with the Lead PreschoolTeacher to create a safe and nurturing environment following the Waldorf, play based model of early childhood education in line with the mission of the school. This position is outdoors, rain or shine.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Lead children in various activities with direction from Lead Teacher. 2. Teach and model consistent, appropriate conflict resolution techniques in order that students may learn to discuss their problems and negotiate with each other. 3. Ensure that there is always adequate adult supervision. 4. Ensure the safety and security of children and school grounds at all times. 5. Awareness of age-appropriate boundaries and the willingness to implement them. 6. Change diapers or clean up bathroom accidents. 7. Communicate any questions or concerns to Lead Teachers. 8. Ensure indoor and outdoor spaces are cleaned daily.
Requirements:
High School Diploma or GED Two years' experience as teacher in early childhood education program 1st
Aid/CPR Certificate:
Infant/Child/Adult Self-motivated and able to step in where needed. Have clear, positive, and open communication with teaching team. Excellent punctuality and reliability. Willingness to be outside in all weather conditions. Able to lift 50 lbs. A joy of singing, arts, and crafts. Willingness to learn about Waldorf Education.
