Header Job Overview Join our dedicated team as a Bus Paraprofessional in the realm of Special Education, where your role is vital in ensuring the safety, well-being, and educational support of students with disabilities during transportation. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference in students' lives by providing reliable supervision and assistance on school buses. Your commitment will help foster a secure and nurturing environment for students with diverse needs, enabling them to access educational opportunities confidently and comfortably. Responsibilities Supervise students with special education needs during transportation to and from school, ensuring their safety at all times Assist students with physical disabilities or behavioral challenges in boarding, riding, and disembarking from buses according to established safety protocols Enforce school policies and transportation safety regulations to maintain order and discipline on the bus Implement behavior management strategies tailored to students with special needs to promote positive conduct during transit Communicate effectively with students, parents, and school staff regarding student behavior, needs, or incidents Support emergency procedures including evacuation drills and incident response to ensure student safety Maintain confidentiality of student information and adhere strictly to privacy policies Skills Experience working with students with disabilities or special education needs, including behavior management for diverse challenges Strong conflict management skills to de-escalate behavioral issues calmly and effectively Ability to enforce school policies and safety regulations consistently Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with students, parents, teachers, and administrators Familiarity with transportation safety standards, especially related to early childhood general education settings Physical ability to assist students with mobility impairments and support physical disabilities as needed Experience in classroom or teaching environments that involve student supervision and behavior management Understanding of evacuation procedures and emergency response protocols Ability to handle confidential information discreetly while maintaining professional integrity This paid position is ideal for individuals passionate about supporting children's educational journeys through safe transportation practices.
