Job Description
The School District of the Menomonie Area has full-time, school-year Special Education Paraeducator positions available at the elementary and high school levels. These positions are 7¼ hours per day, 187 days per year, with wages, hours and conditions of employment in accordance with the School District of the Menomonie Area Employee Handbook. The starting wage rate is $19.66 per hour with comprehensive benefits. Positions are to begin as soon as possible. The successful applicants will have the ability to utilize excellent communication skills with students, staff and administration, maintain absolute confidentiality, possess interpersonal skills, follow through on oral and written instructions, exercise prudent judgment, and supervise students in various settings. Applicants should also be independent thinkers and open to change; hold students accountable and have a full understanding of the importance of flawless communication. Other duties include working with curriculum under the direction of the classroom teacher and administrator in a cross categorical program, providing quality educational services. Paraeducators are responsible for working with academic, intellectual, and behavior needs of students. Some positions require the need to assist with self-care, including toileting and/or changing diapers. Lifting may be a requirement of some positions with candidates needing to meet the physical requirement of lifting up to 60 pounds. Candidates must hold or be willing and able to obtain Wisconsin DPI license #0883 (Special Education Program Aide). EOE.
