Job Description

Position Purpose:
The Library Paraprofessional supports the library/media program by leading the operation and supervision of the library, helping students and staff locate and use resources, maintaining a professional, organized, and welcoming environment, and fostering a love of reading and learning.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Lead students and staff in locating, selecting, and using library resources, including books, periodicals, and digital tools. Coordinate with the LMS to select, order, prepare, and process new print and digital materials. Circulate library materials using the library management system (check materials in/out, renew items, manage holds). Shelve returned materials and maintain order and accuracy in library collections. Support students in developing library and research skills, including basic technology troubleshooting. Prepare and display materials to promote reading, research, and library use. Assist with inventory, weeding, and cataloging of materials. Maintain a professional, safe, organized, and inviting environment for all library users. Coordinate with administration and staff with scheduling library space, coordinating class/library visits, and support student learning groups. Supervise students in the library and reinforce school behavioral expectations. Deliver Digital Literacy content as supplied by LMS/building principal. Troubleshoot technology issues and/or needs. Collaborate and communicate with the Technology Department. Facilitate special student projects or groups. (
Examples:
Battle of the Books, poetry contests, photography contests, STEM challenges, etc.) Perform other duties as assigned by the building principal or library media specialist.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent (required). Post-secondary coursework in library science, education, or related fields (preferred). Experience working with children in an educational setting (preferred). Basic computer skills and ability to learn library software. Strong communication and organizational skills. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Work Schedule:
Hours and days follow the school calendar and may vary based on building needs.
Pay:
From $18.82 per hour
