ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The Instructional Teacher Assistant (ITA) assists students to understand and complete assignments. Additionally, the ITA will use classroom management, monitor student behavior, and help create a positive and productive learning environment. The role requires collaboration with teachers, effective communication with students, and the ability to adapt to diverse student needs. 1. Follow district, building, and departmental policies and procedures. 2. Treat all students, staff and parents and others encountered on the job with respect, compassion and patience. 3. Maintain confidentiality of information regarding students and staff. 4. Administer medications in accordance with school district policy. 5. Assist with the supervision of students. 6. Work with individual or small groups of students to reinforce learning of material or skills. 7. Perform clerical tasks, which may include filing, checking worksheets, attendance records, duplication, etc. 8. Maintain an atmosphere conducive to independent work. 9. Assist students in all phases of school processes. 10. Serve as the chief source of information and help to any substitute assigned in the absence. 11. Prepare instructional materials for students' use. 12. Alert the classroom teacher to any problem or special information about individual students. 13. All other duties as assigned. .OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES 1.
May be asked to participate in team processes for continuous improvement. 2. Perform tasks assisting clerical and administrative staff. 3. Perform other responsibilities set forth in the teacher assistant job description. Qualifications 1. High school diploma or its equivalent. 2. Currently licensed and/or eligible for WI Dept. of Public Inst. 3. Knowledge of non-violent crisis intervention (NVCI) verbal de-escalation techniques or willingness to learn the techniques. 4. Experience working with children in a structured setting is preferred. 5. Ability to interact effectively with parents, students, staff, and others encountered on the job. 6. Ability to follow written and verbal directions as provided by teachers and administrators. 7. Ability to perform basic language, writing, and computational skills. 8. Ability to staff the position for the scheduled workday. 9. Possess basis computer literacy and/or willingness to expand computer skills. 10.
