Job Description
The Door County YMCA is seeking TWO (2) part-time, seasonal Summer Food Program Assistant/Drivers to help bring healthy meals to children across the Sturgeon Bay community. This is a great opportunity to make a direct impact while working in a positive, mission-driven environment.
Responsibilities include:
Preparing and packaging meals and snacks Delivering meals to local sites using a YMCA vehicle Maintaining accurate daily records of meals and deliveries Supporting kitchen organization, sanitation, and clean-up Serving as a friendly, positive representative of theYMCA ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Lead the preparation and delivery of meals and snacks for 200-500 kids per day (varies by season) in accordance with program requirements through the State of Wisconsin and USDA recommended practices. Maintain paperwork and tracking methods that support accurate reimbursement reporting. 2. Manage the expenses of the food supplies in accordance with intended reimbursements and other grants/support. Research vendor options for the most efficient use of resources. Order food supplies and maintain working relationship with selected vendors. 3. Provide timely menu planning that effectively uses supplies on hand and minimizes waste, while still delivering a high quality product that meets nutritional components and incorporates variety; maintains production plan. 4. If applicable, coordinate a scheduled activity for delivery sites that encourages participation. 5. Keep daily records of food production, meal deliveries, and serving sizes at each site. 6. Adheres to program standards including safety and cleanliness standards within the kitchen and at delivery sites. Identify, minimize and eliminate, where possible, any risks that could cause accident, illness, or injury. 7. Establish and maintain a clean kitchen through a checklist of daily, weekly, and occasional cleaning tasks. 8. Outward support of healthy eating and living is an essential element of this position. Always be looking for ways to increase program access across the county. Support grant/donation procurement process as necessary to obtain the funding needed to support program growth beyond State reimbursement. 9. Manage and maintain the two hydroponic garden systems with Volunteer Support. Coordinate with program directors and executive leadership staff to align with program schedules and strategic initiatives. 10. Cultivate relationships with Program Volunteers and assist the Mission Program Director in the volunteer lifecycle process. 11. Follow YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention, and emergencies. 12. Performs other duties assigned, including assistance with other kitchen-based programming (ex: Kids in the Kitchen). 13. Adhere to, and be ready to implement applicable Risk Management and Personnel Procedures as identified in related handbooks. (Handbooks can be found on the Staff Resource Portal)QUALIFICATIONS
1. 3-5 years of food service experience required, or completion of an approved food service management program. 2. Maintain a valid SERVsafe Manager Certification, or acquire within 3 months of employment. 3. High level of organization and expectations of quality. 4. Valid driver's license, with clean driving record. 5. Customer focused attitude, with a strong desire and drive to increase food accessibility across the county. 6. Previous experience with diverse populations preferred. 7. Obtain CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and First Aid Certificates within 90 days of hire; keep current. 8. Complete Child Abuse Prevention Training through the onboarding process/annually thereafter. 9. Complete New Employee Orientation within 30 days of your hire date. 10. Adhere to the Best Practices designated per position which can be found on the Staff Resource Portal.WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS
1. Must be able to lift, carry and load equipment, furnishings, and program supplies (up to 50 pounds) and work with kitchen basic equipment like knives, stove, can opener, dishwasher, etc. 2. The ability to be physically active, including running, jogging, and playing for 1-2 hours at a time is necessary.Pay:
