WATERTOWN UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT VACANCY NOTICE SPECIAL EDUCATION PARAPROFESSIONALS LOCATION

START DATE
Start date: August 25, 2026 (meetings), September 1, 2026 (orientation)
HOURS:
5.75 hours/day, Schedules vary depending on the needs of the students
SALARY RATE
$19.36 per hour - Grade F - Step 1 JOB
DESCRIPTION
Special education paraprofessionals focus on supporting student success. Duties vary depending on the disabilities and needs of the students. All assignments assist in supporting students in a variety of ways: helping students remain on-task, assisting in completing school assignments and learning tasks, supporting social activities, fostering positive student interactions and behaviors, hygiene/grooming, and other student supervisory duties. The qualifications for special education paraprofessional positions include:
  • A high school diploma or equivalent and a strong desire to impact student learning!
  • Excellent attendance history in previous employment.
  • A commitment to positively engaging with students every day!
  • Experience and/or desire to work with students with disabilities and/or behavioral challenges;
  • Ability to interact and work with students, staff, and community members in a positive manner;
  • Basic computer skills and/or ability to learn.
  • A positive attitude to contribute to a strong team-oriented environment;
  • Strong in-person communication skills to promote student success
  • Upon hire, employee will be required to participate in the Paraprofessional Training Program.
Experience working with individuals having autism, mental health and/or developmental disabilities is a plus.
CERTIFICATION
Applicants must possess or apply for Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction Special Education Program Aide license (883) upon hiring. Human Resources will assist with this process.
