08/06/2019 Purpose The purpose of the Teacher Assistant is to Meet Needs and Develop Disciples. Responsibilities 1) Self-Management and Professional Conduct
- Be a committed Christian.
- See role as a calling for ministry, understanding the mission of the Day School.
- Understand that the aide's first priority is to teach about the love of Jesus through positive role modeling, gentle and consistent temperament, and caring relationships.
- Is a positive, caring person with enthusiasm for caring for children.
- Attend meetings and trainings as directed by the supervisor or principal. 2) Staff Management
- Support other staff by being a positive role model, treating others with respect and care.
- Meet with other staff when asked, for planning and problem solving 3) Child Management
- Assist in implementing the classroom schedule.
- Assist in executing fire, tornado and lockdown drills.
- Follow positive discipline policies as outlined in the Staff Training Manual.
- Directly supervise the children's recess activities.
- Supervise bathroom and help as needed.
- Administer first aid when necessary; assist in reporting all accidents/incidents on appropriate forms.
- Maintain open, honest, respectful communication with teachers regarding academics, behaviors, accidents, illnesses and discipline.
- Become familiar and comply with policies in the staff manual. 4) Personal Characteristics
- Demonstrate initiative and competence in working effectively without close supervision.
- Have genuine Christ-like love for children. Minimum Qualifications
- Be an active, participating member of a local Christian church
- High School or higher education
- Current child CPR certification
- Current infant CPR certification Preferred Qualifications
- Be an active, participating member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran church
