Job Description

Overview We are seeking a dedicated and energetic WHEAP/Housing Program Assistant to join our team and support individuals and families in accessing vital energy and housing assistance programs. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact in Lincoln and Marathon Counties. The ideal candidate will be passionate about social services, possess excellent client communication skills, and thrive in a dynamic environment focused on providing necessary resources to the low-income population. Responsibilities Greet and assist clients in person, by phone, or virtually with initial program inquiries Schedule client appointments and manage the intake calendar for WHEAP and other Housing Programs Collect, review, and organize required documentation (proof of income, utility bills, household composition, etc.) Enter and update client information accurately in the WHEAP database/case management system Prepare application files for review by the WHEAP Coordinator or caseworkers Answer general questions about program eligibility for WHEAP and Housing Programs, required documents, and application status Maintain organized paper and electronic filing systems in compliance with confidentiality requirements Assist with mailing, faxing, or emailing program materials and client notices Track application status and follow up with clients on missing documentation Support outreach activities, including distributing flyers, assembling info packets, or staffing community events Perform general office duties (answering the phone, copying, scanning) to support the energy assistance and case management team Assist with data compilation for program reporting as needed Skills High school diploma or equivalent required; some college coursework in human services or related field a plus Prior experience in an office, customer service, or administrative support role preferred Familiarity with WHEAP, LIHEAP, or social services programs a plus, but not required (training provided) Strong data entry skills and attention to detail Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); ability to learn case management software Excellent customer service and communication skills, including with clients experiencing financial hardship Ability to maintain strict confidentiality with sensitive client information Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks under deadlines Bilingual (Spanish or other languages) a plus, depending on community needs Join us in this vital role where your dedication can transform lives by providing essential energy and housing support! Pay:
$21.32 - $25.00 per hour
