Job Description

St. Vincent de Paul School is seeking a dependable, caring, and enthusiastic Paraprofessional / Before Care Provider to help create a safe, welcoming, and engaging environment for students (grades 3-6) before school and throughout the school day. The paraprofessional is responsible for supervising and engaging students beginning at 6:45 a.m. until the start of the school day, monitoring student attendance, leading age-appropriate games and activities, and ensuring that students begin their day in a positive and caring environment. Throughout the school day, this position supports instructional staff, assists students with their academic needs, supervises recesses, facilitates appropriate recess games and activities, and provides classroom support as assigned by the principal. Before Care (grades 3-6) Provide a safe, welcoming, and engaging environment for students before school. Supervise students from the beginning of Before Care until the start of the school day. Record and monitor student attendance in the Before Care program. Organize and facilitate age-appropriate games, activities, and opportunities for students to learn and play. Encourage positive social interactions and promote a kind, respectful, and caring environment. Ensure students follow school expectations and Catholic principles of kindness, respect, responsibility, and service to others. Classroom and Academic Support (grades 3-6) Follow a daily schedule to provide support to teachers and students throughout the school day. Assist students who may need additional academic or classroom support. Provide assistance across subject areas as assigned by the principal or classroom teacher. Work cooperatively with teachers and instructional staff to support student learning and academic excellence. Maintain confidentiality and professionalism when working with students, families, and staff. Recess Supervision (grades 3-6) Monitor and supervise all assigned recess periods throughout the school day. Actively engage with students and promote appropriate games, activities, and positive interactions. Help students resolve conflicts fairly and respectfully. Apply Catholic principles when guiding students through disagreements and social challenges. Promote inclusion and ensure that all students have an opportunity to participate in a safe and positive environment. Model kindness, patience, respect, and appropriate behavior at all times. General Expectations Be punctual, dependable, and reliable (6:45 am-2:45 pm Monday-Friday) Arrive on time and be prepared for all assigned duties. Maintain a courteous, positive, and professional demeanor at all times. Build positive relationships with students while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries. Demonstrate patience, flexibility, and a willingness to assist wherever needed. Work collaboratively with teachers, support staff, administration, and students. Support the mission and Catholic identity of St. Vincent de Paul School. Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate is someone who: Enjoys working with children and building positive relationships with students. Is energetic, patient, dependable, and approachable. Can confidently supervise students and maintain a safe environment. Enjoys playing games and engaging students in age-appropriate activities. Can work effectively with students across multiple grade levels and subject areas. Demonstrates good judgment and the ability to handle student conflicts calmly and fairly. Supports the Catholic mission and values of St. Vincent de Paul School. Works well as part of a team and is willing to assist wherever needed.
Pay:
From $16.00 per hour Expected hours: 7.5 per week
