Job Description

Lead Teaching Assistant - Transitional Kindergarten (2026-2027 School Year) The Open School , a nonprofit early childhood education program in Laramie, Wyoming, is seeking a Lead Teaching Assistant for our Transitional Kindergarten (TK) classroom for the 2026-2027 school year . The Transitional Kindergarten is a PreK classroom for children who are turning 5, miss the Kindergarten birthday cut-off, or whose families choose an extra year of PreK before starting Kindergarten. This position is ideal for someone who is passionate about early childhood education and enjoys working as part of a collaborative teaching team. The Assistant Teacher plays an important role in supporting classroom instruction, fostering a positive learning environment, and building strong relationships with children and families.

Position Schedule School Year:

August 2026 - May 2027 Monday-Friday 7:15 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. with 30 minute lunch break Additional substitute hours may be available. Summer hours of June and July summer camp are also available The Open School follows the Albany County School District #1 calendar for most holidays and school breaks, providing a schedule that aligns closely with the local school district. Qualifications Experience working with young children is preferred. Strong communication and teamwork skills. Patient, energetic, dependable, and nurturing. A genuine passion for working with children and their families. Willingness to continue learning and growing in the field of early childhood education. Requirements Successful completion of state and federal background checks, including fingerprinting. Infant, Child, and Adult CPR/First Aid certification (training can be arranged if needed).
