This position is ideal for a teacher, reading specialist, special educator, dyslexia interventionist, or other professional with experience supporting students with learning differences. Our practice specializes in working with children and adolescents with ADHD, dyslexia and other learning disorders, executive functioning difficulties, anxiety, autism, and twice-exceptional (2e) learning profiles . This is not primarily a homework-help position. We are looking for someone who can identify skill gaps, provide targeted instruction, and help students build the skills and strategies needed to become more independent learners. Services May Include Depending on the provider's training and experience: Individual academic tutoring in reading, writing, and/or math Structured literacy and dyslexia intervention Phonological awareness, decoding, reading fluency, spelling, and written-language intervention Executive functioning support, including organization, planning, time management, task initiation, and study skills Academic support for students with ADHD and learning differences Development of individualized intervention goals based on evaluation findings Progress monitoring and adjustment of intervention strategies Collaboration with parents and, when appropriate, psychologists, therapists, and other members of the student's care team Ideal Candidate We are especially interested in candidates with backgrounds in: Special education Reading intervention or reading specialization Dyslexia intervention Elementary or secondary education School psychology or educational psychology Academic intervention Executive functioning coaching Training or experience with Orton-Gillingham, Wilson, Barton, Lindamood-Bell, Structured Literacy, Science of Reading, or similar evidence-based approaches is strongly preferred for providers offering dyslexia intervention. Formal dyslexia certification is preferred but may not be required for candidates who can demonstrate substantial training and experience providing evidence-based reading intervention. Qualifications Bachelor's degree required; master's degree preferred Professional experience working with school-aged children and/or adolescents Strong understanding of learning differences and individualized instruction Ability to develop and implement targeted academic interventions rather than simply assist with homework Strong communication, organization, and documentation skills Comfortable communicating with parents regarding goals and student progress Reliable and able to work independently within a collaborative practice Teaching certification, special education certification, reading specialist credentials, Structured Literacy/Dyslexia credentials, or comparable specialized training are highly valued. Position Overview Arizona Developmental Psychology is seeking an experienced Academic Tutor & Dyslexia Interventionist to provide individualized academic support to school-aged children and adolescents. This position is especially well suited for a teacher, reading specialist, special educator, dyslexia interventionist, or other educational professional looking to supplement an existing job or private practice with additional afternoon/evening hours. This is a growing position and will not begin with a full-time caseload. We will work collaboratively with the selected provider to gradually build a schedule based on their availability, areas of expertise, and client demand. Our practice will support caseload development through referrals from our psychological and psychoeducational evaluations, existing referral relationships, and ongoing marketing efforts. Schedule & Caseload Part-time to start, with opportunity to grow Flexible scheduling based on provider availability Primarily afternoon and evening appointments due to the school-aged population we serve Opportunity for daytime appointments during school breaks and with older students/adults In-person, online, or hybrid services depending on the provider and type of service Provider and practice will work together to build the caseload over time This role is ideal for someone who values flexibility and is comfortable building a caseload gradually rather than stepping into a pre-established full-time schedule . Flexible scheduling is available. Because we primarily serve school-aged children and adolescents, candidates must have afternoon/evening availability . In-person services are provided at our Phoenix office near 32nd Street and Shea Boulevard . Online or hybrid services may also be available depending on the provider and services offered. Compensation Client rates generally range from $70-$135 per session , depending on the provider's education, credentials, specialized training, and experience. Candidates may be considered for either: W-2 employment , with compensation structured based on experience and role; or 1099 independent contractor , using our established percentage-based fee split. Arizona Developmental Psychology provides administrative support, scheduling infrastructure, office space for in-person services, and opportunities to build a caseload through our existing evaluation referrals and community marketing. About Arizona Developmental Psychology Arizona Developmental Psychology is a private-pay psychology practice specializing in comprehensive psychological and psychoeducational evaluations and individualized services for children, adolescents, and families. Many students receiving academic services have already completed comprehensive evaluations through our practice, allowing intervention providers to work from detailed information about the student's cognitive, academic, attention, executive functioning, and social-emotional profile. Our goal is to move beyond simply identifying a diagnosis and help families translate evaluation findings into practical, individualized support.
