Early Elementary Academic Tutor | Grades Pre-K - 2 | In-Home Peak Academics Scottsdale, AZ Job Details Part-time | Contract $56 an hour 1 day ago Benefits Flexible schedule Qualifications Basic math Teaching Certification Numeracy Education Working with students Parent-teacher conferences (communication methods) Full Job Description Help young learners build strong academic foundations, confidence, and a positive relationship with learning during some of their most important developmental years. Peak Academics is seeking warm, experienced educators to provide individualized, in-home academic support for students in Pre-K through Grade 2 throughout Phoenix, Scottsdale, and Paradise Valley. Our youngest learners benefit from instruction that is engaging, encouraging, and carefully matched to their developmental level. Tutors may work with children who are building school-readiness skills, learning to read, developing early writing and math skills, strengthening areas of weakness, or needing additional support with classroom concepts and homework. Depending on the child, sessions may focus on foundational skill development, targeted remediation, enrichment, homework and classroom support, or a thoughtful combination of these areas. Our whole-child approach considers each student's academic needs along with confidence, attention, motivation, and individual learning preferences. This role is ideal for educators who genuinely enjoy working with young children and know how to make learning feel approachable, interactive, and rewarding. Hours build gradually based on tutor availability and family needs and generally range from 5-10 hours per week. Most sessions take place after school and during early evening hours, with occasional opportunities for earlier daytime sessions. Applicants must be local and available to provide in-person tutoring.
What You'll Do:
Provide individualized, in-home academic support for students in Pre-K through Grade 2 Build early literacy skills, including phonological awareness, phonics, decoding, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension as appropriate Support beginning writing, spelling, handwriting, and written expression Strengthen foundational math skills such as number sense, computation, problem-solving, and mathematical reasoning Help school-age students understand and complete homework or classroom assignments when needed Identify emerging skill gaps and provide targeted instruction and practice Reinforce concepts children are learning at school Incorporate hands-on, engaging, and developmentally appropriate activities into sessions Break new or challenging skills into manageable steps Help children develop confidence, persistence, independence, and positive learning habits Adapt instruction to each child's developmental level, strengths, and individual needs Communicate consistently with families regarding goals, progress, scheduling, and areas for continued support
What We're Looking For:
Bachelor's degree or higher in Education Arizona teacher certification Experience teaching students in Pre-K through Grade 2 Strong understanding of early literacy and foundational math development Knowledge of developmentally appropriate instruction for young learners Ability to provide both targeted skill-building and classroom/homework support Experience differentiating instruction for a variety of learning needs Warm, patient, energetic, and encouraging approach with children Ability to make learning interactive and engaging Whole-child, student-centered mindset Strong communication and family partnership skills Dependable transportation for travel to students' homes Valid fingerprint clearance card or willingness to obtain one
