  • $50 an hour 7 hours ago Qualifications SAT preparation tutoring TOEFL test preparation tutoring AP exam preparation tutoring GED test preparation tutoring ACT preparation tutoring Full Job Description CP Admissions is seeking an SAT tutor with exceptional strengths in Reading and Writing who can make challenging passages, grammar rules, and answer choices clear to high school students.
We're looking for someone who can explain why an answer is correct, identify the reasoning behind a student's mistake, and turn that insight into focused practice. You should enjoy helping students become more precise readers, more confident thinkers, and more independent learners. Our program combines instruction, structured practice through Lectern—our SAT/ACT learning platform—and ongoing support to help students follow through between sessions. What you'll do
  • Teach SAT Reading and Writing using CP's curriculum, adapting explanations and pacing to each student.
  • Guide students through main ideas, supporting details, inference, vocabulary in context, sentence function, and relationships between texts.
  • Explain sentence structure, punctuation, agreement, verb tense, modifiers, parallelism, and transitions clearly.
  • Help students support their answers with evidence and understand why competing answer choices fail.
  • Identify patterns in student errors and assign targeted practice through Lectern.
  • Maintain clear progress notes, assignments, and next steps.
  • Coordinate with CP's instructors and Educational Facilitators to support student accountability and communication with families. What we're looking for
  • Excellent command of SAT Reading and Writing content.
  • Experience teaching or tutoring English, reading, writing, or test preparation.
  • The ability to explain difficult concepts in clear, approachable language.
  • A patient, engaging teaching style with high expectations and specific, constructive feedback.
  • Strong organization, reliability, and follow-through.
  • Willingness to learn CP's instructional methods and collaborate with the team.
  • Comfort using online learning platforms, shared documents, and virtual teaching tools.
Prior SAT tutoring experience, strong SAT Reading and Writing results, and evidence of student improvement are especially welcome. ACT English/Reading and academic writing experience are a plus.
