Tutor (Part-Time)
Pay:
$22.00-$24.00 per hour Benefits Flexible schedule Weekly pay Paid sick time Professional development assistance Referral program Opportunities for long-term and daily assignments Supportive staffing team 401(k) Assignments at K-12 schools throughout Los Angeles County Tradewind Subs is hiring part-time Tutors to provide academic support and instructional services to students in K-12 schools throughout Los Angeles County. Tutors are employed by Tradewind Subs and placed at client school sites to provide one-on-one and small-group academic support based on student, classroom, and school needs. Tutors work collaboratively with school staff to reinforce classroom instruction, support student learning, and help students develop the academic skills, confidence, and positive learning habits necessary for success. Essential DutiesAcademic Instruction & Support Provide one-on-one and small-group tutoring in core academic subjects, including reading, writing, mathematics, and other assigned subject areas. Deliver pre-planned or appropriately developed instructional activities aligned with grade-level expectations and student learning goals. Reinforce classroom instruction, assist students with assignments, and provide support in preparing for assessments. Adapt instructional strategies, materials, and pacing to meet individual student learning needs, goals, and abilities. Monitor student understanding and provide additional instruction or practice as needed. Encourage positive study habits, communication skills, student engagement, and independent learning. Student Support & Accommodations Provide academic assistance to students with disabilities and other learning needs in accordance with applicable IEPs, 504 Plans, school plans, and staff direction. Provide appropriate one-on-one or small-group support to students requiring additional academic or behavioral assistance. Support English language learners and other specialized student populations as assigned. Maintain a structured, respectful, and supportive learning environment that promotes student participation and academic growth. Follow school-approved strategies for supporting student behavior and engagement. Safety & Compliance Maintain appropriate supervision of students during tutoring sessions and other assigned activities. Follow all school, district, and charter policies, procedures, and safety requirements. Follow applicable emergency procedures and respond appropriately to student safety needs. Comply with all applicable mandated reporting requirements under California law. Maintain student confidentiality and comply with FERPA and applicable child-safety and privacy requirements. Report safety concerns, student incidents, or other concerns to designated school personnel. Administrative & Communication Duties Track and document student participation, progress, and instructional activities as required by the school or Tradewind Subs. Complete timesheets, session notes, progress documentation, incident reports, and other required records accurately and on time. Communicate student progress, concerns, and instructional needs to designated teachers, administrators, or school staff. Maintain professional communication with school personnel and Tradewind Subs staff. Follow assignment-specific procedures and requirements established by the client school. Physical Requirements The following physical demands are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this role. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities. Ability to stand, walk, bend, and move throughout a classroom or school campus for extended periods. Ability to lift or assist with materials or equipment weighing up to 25 pounds when necessary. Ability to respond promptly to student and safety needs. Ability to work in classroom, outdoor, and other school environments as assigned. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing. Pre-Employment Requirements All candidates must satisfy applicable requirements before placement at a school site, including: Minimum of six (6) months of recent experience working with children or adolescents in an educational, tutoring, childcare, coaching, mentoring, youth development, or related setting.
Preferred:
48 college credits or more. DOJ/FBI Livescan fingerprint clearance, as required for the applicable assignment. Tuberculosis (TB) risk assessment or test, as required by applicable California law and school requirements. Valid authorization to work in the United States and completion of required I-9 documentation. Verification of applicable credentials, permits, certifications, or other qualifications when required for a specific assignment.
