Position Overview:

We are seeking a part-time tutor to provide one-on-one tutoring for a 6th grade student within the Oakland area. Tutoring sessions wil take place in-home and be scheduled as needed with the family. The ideal candidate will have a strong educational background and experience working with students in reading and writing and have familiarity with students who have learning disabilities.

Responsibilities:

Provide individualized one-on-one tutoring Develop personalized lesson plans tailored to student's learning needs and goals. Create engaging and interactive activities to reinforce concepts. Assess student progress and adjust teaching methods accordingly to ensure comprehension and academic growth. Communicate effectively with student, parents, and colleagues regarding student progress and any concerns. Utilize a variety of instructional materials and resources to enhance learning experiences. Keep accurate records of tutoring sessions and student achievements. Assist in tracking data for student and the overall program.

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Education, English, Child Development or related field (preferred) Previous experience working with K-12 students in a tutoring or teaching capacity. Strong knowledge of ELA and Math curriculum and instructional strategies. Bilingual in English and Spanish (required). Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Patience, empathy, and a passion for helping students succeed. Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet the individual needs of student. Background check and TB test will be required.

Schedule/Availability :

It is preferable for staff to have open availability during the hours of 2pm-6:30pm. However, tutoring sessions are appointment based and depend on the students' requested schedule. Tutoring sessions will be in the students' home. This position offers the opportunity to make a positive impact on students' academic journey.
