Breakthrough Sacramento:
Academic Success Coach BSAC is seeking current college students to offer after-school tutoring for students at various schools in Sacramento. This role involves mentoring participants in our year-round programs for students in K-8.
Job Summary and Duties:
BSAC Academic Success Coach Role Overview The BSAC Academic Success Coach operates under the guidance of the Program Director. This position involves offering academic support in various subjects at different schools, including Math, Lab Sciences, and Language Arts/English. Additionally, the Academic Success Coach is tasked with mentoring 5 to 10 students in grades K-8. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Offer skill-building and homework support to students involved in the after-school tutoring program at multiple high schools in the greater Sacramento area. Co-manage the after-school tutoring site by addressing any management issues that may come up and collaborating effectively with colleagues to ensure a conducive study environment, whether virtually or in person. Participate in weekly check-in meetings with the Program Director. Maintain a monthly record of students served and the services provided, including tracking students' attendance and academic progress for quarterly data reports.
Qualifications and Experience:
Currently enrolled in college courses. Ability to speak Spanish and Farsi fluently is a PLUS, but not necessary.
Availability:
Afternoon slots of 2-4 hours Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 2:00 PM to 4:30 PM. Must be available during these days and times to apply.
Experience:
Tutoring students of all ages Working with elementary (K-6) or middle school (grades 7-8) students is preferred. Experience in a similar academic or educational outreach program is a plus but not mandatory.
Compensation:
$17.00 per hour for 10-12 hours per week. Currently, 9 positions available. We are hiring for the 2025-2026 academic school year. Candidates will serve as contractors for various school districts and must be able to successfully pass a background check.
