Job Description

We are seeking to hire and train a qualified educator to work with students in our dyslexia program at Middle Tree. The Middle Tree dyslexia program works with students identified as dyslexic who receive structured literacy tutoring in a one-on-one environment at the Middle Tree Sacramento location. The Dyslexia Tutor will be trained in the Barton Reading and Spelling System to progress the reading and writing abilities of students with dyslexia through individualized tutoring, as well as complete administrative tasks related to program logistics. Tutoring responsibilities will include biweekly sessions with each student, and collecting data on student progress and keeping detailed records. Administrative responsibilities will include training, scheduling, completing and compiling reports related to dyslexia screenings.
Responsibilities:
Teach students one-on-one using the provided program materials Keep detailed records of student progress Administer dyslexia screenings Complete ongoing program training as-needed Maintain contact with parents regarding their student's needs and progress Complete special projects as assigned and needed Have reliable availability and maintain appointments as scheduled
Experience and Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree (English, Child Development, Education, and Humanities-related majors preferred but not required) 2-3 years experience working with students in a one-on-one or classroom environment Familiarity working with dyslexic and special needs students (preferred) Must be willing to engage in intensive and ongoing training Familiarity with Google Workspace (Docs, Drive, Classroom) Access to a personal computer and phone Ability to pass a background check Ability to be sensitive to the needs of students from diverse backgrounds and ability levels Possess a passion for education (especially special education) and literacy

Schedule:
Open availability during the hours of 2:30-8pm Monday-Friday and 10am-5pm weekends is preferred as the program is based on student appointments.
Job Type:
Part-time Pay:
$22.00 per hour
