About the Role The Academic Coach will provide in-person academic support to K - 12th graders in Public or Private Schools all over San Diego County. Locations span from San Ysidro all the way up to La Jolla. The Academic Coach will work in an autonomous environment, building rewarding relationships with disengaged students from various communities. We are looking for candidates who have a passion for improving students' learning experience; while also, facilitating Literacy development and Growth encouragement about Mathematics! This role provides excellent experience for anyone interested in becoming a teacher. Responsibilities Provide in-person academic support to programs that work with K-12 students, K-8th are the predominant grade levels for Title I/III programing Provide academic coaching in English and Mathematics. Document all work performed into a tutoring database as a requirement for payment. Work part time ( up to 25 hours ) between the hours of 8am-3pm Monday to Thursday (hours will vary based on location) Commit to completing the program, once assignment is accepted. Contracts are between 10-20 weeks depending on the location.. This assignment position may end with the possibility to rehire for other programs within the company. Qualifications Minimum of one year teaching/tutoring/coaching experience in ELA, ELD and Math. Ability to build rapport with students and be upbeat, engaging, patient, and able to motivate learners. Experience using video conferencing platforms like Google Meets or Zoom, and comfortable navigating online educational resources required. High school diploma and at least 90-96 accumulated undergraduate credits required. Genuine passion for learning and teaching. Teaching credential is not required. Life experience similar to the student population is preferred. Candidates who are bilingual in English and Spanish are encouraged to apply. Not necessary. Physical Requirements and Work Environment :
Work is performed in a classroom or private setting (homes/library); regularly standing and working directly with children for up to 6 hours per day; occasionally lifts, carries and positions objects weighing up to 20 pounds. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Pay range and compensation package The hourly range for Title I/III programing is $23-26 per hour commensurate with work experience, skills and educational background. Paid sick leave of one hour after every 30 hours accrued is included in this position.
