Paid training, multiple openings Position Overview We're hiring multiple part-time tutors to support students at partner schools in the Whittier area. In this role, you'll work with small groups of students during after-school hours, providing academic support in areas such as math, reading, homework help, and skill-building. We provide guidance, materials, and paid training to help you feel prepared and supported in the role. What You'll Do Work with small groups of students in grades K-8 during after-school hours Provide academic support in subjects such as math, reading, and homework help Set clear expectations, keep students engaged, and use positive behavior supports Take attendance and follow site routines, including check-in, safety procedures, and dismissal Prep materials before sessions and leave the space clean and organized Share a short session note with your supervisor, including attendance and quick highlights Examples of Assignments Assignments vary by school site and may include: Small-group math support Small-group reading support Homework help and general academic support Skill-building activities aligned with student needs You'll Thrive In This Role If You… Enjoy working with kids and can lead a small group with calm, clear expectations Are dependable and punctual for afternoon schedules Can explain concepts in a simple, encouraging way Build positive relationships with students while maintaining structure Stay organized and communicate proactively Qualifications At least 6 months experience working with students (classroom, after-school, tutoring, camps, recreation, youth programs) Associate's degree or equivalent (Bachelor's degree preferred). Strong reliability, punctuality, and classroom/group management Pass criminal background check via fingerprinting before hiring. Possess TB Test clearance (current within two years). Have reliable means of transportation (some roles may involve working at different nearby sites) Minimum 18 years of age Able to lift up to 20 pounds Schedule and Pay Part-time Expected hours: 8-12 hours per week
Hours:
Monday-Friday afternoons (typically between 1:00 PM and 4:00 PM)
Pay:
$21.00-$26.00 per hour (based on experience/education) Paid training provided before you begin at a site W-2 position Note This position is dependent on school supplemental funding and may be reassessed at the end of the school contract term.
