Full Job Description Academic Tutor and Youth Leadership Instructor Job Type:

Contract Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced, energetic, and dependable Academic Tutor and Youth Leadership Instructor to facilitate engaging after-school programming for elementary and middle school students. This contract position combines academic support with interactive leadership development. The ideal candidate will help students improve their academic skills while strengthening their confidence, communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.

Schedule and Availability:

Monday through Friday Days are flexible based on program needs and instructor availability Must be available to arrive on-site by 3:50 p.m. Programming may continue until 6:00 p.m. The number of weekly hours will depend on the assigned schedule Must be able to commit to all confirmed program dates

Tutoring Responsibilities:

Provide academic support in reading, literacy, mathematics, homework completion, and other core subjects Explain academic concepts in age-appropriate and easy-to-understand ways Use educational games, learning stations, hands-on exercises, and other interactive teaching methods Adapt instruction to meet different learning levels and student needs Encourage students to become confident and independent learners Monitor student participation and academic progress Maintain an organized, supportive, and engaging learning environment

Leadership Program Responsibilities:

Facilitate interactive lessons focused on leadership, teamwork, communication, confidence, accountability, and conflict resolution Lead group challenges, role-playing activities, discussions, games, and team-building exercises Help students strengthen their decision-making and problem-solving skills Encourage students to identify their strengths, express their ideas, and advocate for themselves appropriately Create opportunities for students to practice leadership during each session Model professionalism, patience, accountability, and respectful communication

Required Qualifications:

Minimum of three years of relevant experience working with elementary and/or middle school students Previous experience in tutoring, teaching, youth development, mentoring, leadership programming, or after-school programming Strong classroom and behavior-management skills Ability to provide hands-on, engaging, and interactive instruction Ability to work effectively with students from diverse backgrounds and learning levels Strong communication, organization, and time-management skills Ability to follow established program expectations and workshop structures Ability to complete required attendance, program recaps, and other documentation Must be dependable, flexible, professional, and punctual Must successfully complete all required background checks and clearances

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor's or master's degree in education, youth development, counseling, social work, psychology, or a related field Experience developing or implementing academic and leadership-based lesson plans Experience facilitating small-group learning stations Experience supporting students with different academic, behavioral, social, and emotional needs Knowledge of social-emotional learning practices is a plus

Employment Type:

Independent Contractor Compensation and total weekly hours will depend on the candidate's qualifications, availability, and assigned program schedule.

Pay:

$50.00 - $60.00 per hour Expected hours: 4.0 - 10.0 per week
