Job Description
Job Overview We are seeking an enthusiastic and dependable Part-Time Elementary Reading Tutor to join our team in Washington, DC. This role offers the opportunity to support one elementary student through individualized reading instruction focused on phonics, decoding, fluency, comprehension, and overall reading confidence. The tutor will meet with the student in person on Mondays after 4:30 PM and should be available to maintain a consistent weekly schedule throughout the school year . This position is ideal for an experienced tutor, educator, or certified teacher who enjoys providing personalized instruction and adapting lessons to meet the needs of an individual learner. Responsibilities Deliver engaging, individualized reading instruction based on the student's current skills and learning needs Plan and prepare lessons that support phonics, decoding, fluency, comprehension, vocabulary, and reading confidence Select and use appropriate instructional materials and strategies for each session Adjust instruction based on student performance and progress Encourage active participation, independence, and confidence during reading tasks Maintain a consistent weekly schedule throughout the school year Communicate professionally with the WeMind team regarding progress, concerns, and relevant session observations Create a positive and supportive learning environment Experience Prior experience tutoring or teaching elementary students is strongly preferred Experience with phonics, decoding, reading intervention, or structured literacy is highly preferred Teacher certification is preferred but not required for candidates with strong relevant experience Ability to independently plan and prepare effective reading lessons Experience working with different learning styles and academic needs Strong communication, reliability, and professionalism Ability to commit to weekly in-person sessions for the duration of the school year Join WeMind Academy of Learning in providing individualized academic support that helps students strengthen their skills, confidence, and independence.
Pay:
