Job Description
City Year is seeking an Academic Tutor to support students' academic and social-emotional growth in partner public schools. In this full-time role, you will provide small-group and one-on-one tutoring in core subjects, track student progress, and collaborate with teachers to align support with classroom instruction. You will serve as a mentor and positive role model, helping students build confidence, set goals, and develop effective learning habits. Responsibilities Provide one-on-one and small-group tutoring in core subjects to support student achievement Collaborate with teachers to reinforce classroom instruction and track student progress Serve as a positive mentor, building strong, supportive relationships with students Support the classroom environment, including behavior management and engagement strategies Use data to monitor student performance and adjust support strategies Participate in training, coaching, and professional development sessions Communicate regularly with the school team and City Year staff about student needs Model inclusive, equity-focused practices aligned with City Year's mission Required Skills Tutoring K-12 students Lesson planning Small-group instruction One-on-one academic support Classroom management support Data tracking and progress monitoring Basic assessment and feedback Use of e-learning tools/platforms Communication with teachers and staff Culturally responsive practices
