Job Description

City Year is seeking an Academic Tutor to support students' academic and social-emotional growth in partner public schools. In this full-time role, you will provide small-group and one-on-one tutoring in core subjects, track student progress, and collaborate with teachers to align support with classroom instruction. You will serve as a mentor and positive role model, helping students build confidence, set goals, and develop effective learning habits. Responsibilities Provide one-on-one and small group academic tutoring in core subjects to K-12 students Support classroom instruction in partnership with teachers to reinforce key concepts Track and report student progress using school and City Year tools Serve as a positive mentor, role model, and advocate for students' social-emotional growth Communicate regularly with school staff and City Year team members about student needs Participate in ongoing training, coaching, and professional development sessions Engage in school-based projects and events that build a positive learning environment Model City Year values of inclusivity, service, and social justice in daily work Required Skills Lesson planning Small group instruction One-on-one tutoring Classroom management support Student progress monitoring Data entry and reporting Educational technology tools Communication (student/family/teacher) Mentoring and youth development Time management
