Full Job Description Salary Range:
$14.00 - $50.00DISTINGUISHINGCHARACTERISTICS OF WORK
Tutors will be responsible for assisting the Teachers in implementing the daily responsibilities of the literacy program in which they are trained. Tutors will maintain child progress reports as well as attendance reports and any other required paperwork. They will assist the teachers in improving academic and/or enrichment activities and providing social skills-based activities in the after-school and summer camp at each site. The Tutor will also maintain lesson plans as well as have all necessary supplies, worksheets and manuals readily available at each session. Assist in or lead homework activities.ESSENTIAL EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
- Assess and track student performance based on grant guidelines.
- Communicate with parents/guardians in a professional and courteous manner.
- Assist the Teacher in the implementation of literacy component and work with camp counselors to ensure successful implementation.
- Uphold all City of Hialeah policies and procedures including those related to safety and risk management.
- Perform any other tasks assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Previous experience with the City of Hialeah After-Care Program and/or Summer Camp preferred.
- Bilingual - preferred.
- Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Previous tutor experience preferred.
- Attend required training sessions to implement program components.
- Ability to provide leadership and work well with children and staff.
- Able to implement enrichment activities or curriculum as assigned.
