Job Description
Sylvan Learning of Riverview is hiring a Part-Time K-12 Reading & Math Tutor to work with elementary, middle, and high school students at our Riverview center. We are looking for a dependable, engaging tutor who enjoys working with students and can provide clear, supportive instruction in reading and/or math. Sylvan provides the curriculum, lesson plans, and instructional materials, so tutors can focus on teaching and helping students make progress. This position is a strong fit for current or retired teachers, college or graduate students, experienced tutors, and others with a strong academic background who enjoy working with children and teenagers. Schedule This is a part-time, in-person position. Instructional hours vary based on student schedules and are generally between:
Monday-Thursday:
2:30 p.m•7:30 p.m. Every otherSaturday:
9:00 a.m•1:00 p.m. Specific weekday hours vary based on student enrollment and tutor availability Duties & Responsibilities Tutor K-12 students in reading and/or math Deliver instruction using Sylvan lesson plans, and instructional technology Work with students in small-group settings Explain concepts in a clear, age-appropriate manner Provide encouragement and help students remain engaged during instructional sessions Maintain a positive and focused learning environment Requirements Strong reading and/or math skills Ability to work effectively with children and teenagers Strong communication and interpersonal skills Dependable and able to maintain a consistent schedule Comfortable learning and using Sylvan's instructional systems Bachelor's degree, current college/graduate enrollment, or equivalent academic background preferred Previous teaching or tutoring experience preferred but not requiredPay:
$16•20 per hour, based on experience, qualifications, and subject areasPay:
