DRIVEx is hiring a limited group of local Driving Tutors across Tampa. We're starting small. For this first hiring round, we're building a network of only 10 local tutors across the Tampa area and surrounding communities. This isn't a traditional driving-school instructor position. You won't spend your day standing in a classroom. You won't have a boss building your weekly schedule. And you don't need to turn every lesson into an hour of driving around the city. DRIVEx connects local students who need additional behind-the-wheel practice with local people who can patiently help them become safer and more confident drivers. Your Earnings We've intentionally made the pay progression simple.

Start:

$25.00/hour Complete your first 10 lessons: $27.50/hour Complete your 25th lesson: $30.00/hour That's it. There aren't five complicated levels to memorize. Our model is built around local tutors serving students within the communities around them. What You'll Actually Do You'll work one-on-one with students who want additional real-world driving practice. A good DRIVEx lesson isn't simply: "Get in the car and drive around for an hour." We teach progressively. Depending on the student, a lesson may include: Talking through vehicle controls Safety discussions Demonstrating a maneuver yourself Parking exercises Turning practice Braking and acceleration control Lane positioning Observation and awareness Repeating a specific skill Quiet residential streets Large parking areas Gradually progressing to normal road environments Helping nervous drivers become more comfortable behind the wheel A significant part of teaching someone to drive is coaching, explaining, demonstrating, observing and building confidence. Students progress when they're ready. Safety comes first. You Are a Driving Tutor — Not a Driving-School Instructor This distinction is important. DRIVEx provides supplemental driving practice. We connect students with independent local Driving Tutors who help them gain additional experience behind the wheel. DRIVEx does not replace state-required driver education, operate as a licensing authority, or issue licensing certifications. You are providing practical tutoring and supervised driving practice through the DRIVEx platform. Important Vehicle Requirement Please read this section before applying. You must have access to your own vehicle.

The vehicle must be:

Properly registered Properly insured In safe operating condition Available for the lessons you choose to accept You must also maintain a valid driver's license. DRIVEx currently does not provide vehicles or supplemental automobile insurance coverage for tutors. We want to be completely transparent about that before anyone applies. DRIVEx is still a small Tampa-based company. As the company grows, expanding the vehicle and insurance protections available to tutors is one of our major priorities. We're simply not there yet. What we can currently provide is an opportunity for qualified local tutors with their own registered and insured vehicle to earn as much as: $30/hour while helping people in their own community. About Our Approach to Safety DRIVEx lessons are intentionally structured around gradual learning. Beginner students aren't simply placed into complicated traffic situations. Whenever appropriate, tutors can begin with: Parking lot → quiet street → neighborhood → normal roads → more advanced environments Rather than immediately placing an inexperienced student into difficult driving conditions. Our historical DRIVEx operations have had no reported vehicle accidents during completed DRIVEx lessons to date. That doesn't eliminate the inherent risks associated with driving. It's one reason our approach emphasizes instruction, demonstration, gradual progression and appropriate environments before complexity. Who Does Well With DRIVEx? You don't need to be a professional teacher. Some people don't have someone comfortable teaching them. Others simply need more repetition before they feel confident. DRIVEx exists to close that gap. About DRIVEx DRIVEx is a Tampa-based technology platform connecting students with independent local Driving Tutors for supplemental behind-the-wheel practice. The platform is designed to help manage: Student connections → scheduling → lessons → payments → tutor activity while allowing tutors to operate independently within their local communities. As individual service areas reach the coverage we need, hiring in those areas will pause. Start at $25/hour. Reach $27.50/hour after 10 lessons. Reach $30/hour after 25 lessons.
