Tutors Dogwood Tutoring & Test Prep is seeking passionate, dedicated and experienced tutors to make a meaningful impact on students' academic journeys. This is a part-time, year-round position for ELA Tutor and Test Prep , with all tutoring occurring in person at our professional learning center in Sandy Springs.Key Details:
Position:
Part-Time Tutors for Multiple ELA Subjects and English/Verbal Test Prep (see list below)Location:
Dogwood Tutoring & Test Prep, Roswell Road near 285, Sandy Springs, GACompensation:
$30- 40 per hour depending on the assignment
Schedule:
Weekdays after 4:30 PM and weekends (flexible schedule)Commitment:
Must be available for at least two semesters, with flexibility to work 2+ days after school and/or on weekendsAbout Dogwood Tutoring & Test Prep:
With over 14 years in business, Dogwood Tutoring & Test Prep provides high-quality educational services designed to improve student grades and standardized test scores. We specialize in one-on-one tutoring for middle and high school students, offering help in most subjects, including English, math, statistics, science, and test prep (ACT/SAT/SSAT/ISEE). Sessions are customized to meet individual needs, and students typically visit our center for tutoring on weekdays and weekends.Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one tutoring for middle and high school students the following subjects:
English & Writing:
- AP English Language & Composition
- AP English Literature
- Essay Writing Skills
- Grammar and Mechanics
- Reading Comprehension
- IB English
Standardized Test Prep :
SAT, ACT, SSAT, ISEE
(verbal/reading/english/writing sections)- Assist 10th and 11th-grade students with test prep for
ACT, SAT, SSAT
verbal sections/modules- Foster a positive, supportive learning environment that helps students build confidence in their skills.
- Communicate effectively with students and families about progress and areas for improvement
- Maintain clear and continuous communication with Dogwood administration and the Engagement Director about your availability and student progress.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a English Language related field is required (Master's preferred)
- At least 2 years of relevant ELA test prep and tutoring or teaching experience at the high school or college level.
- Passion for teaching and mentoring students, with a focus on patience, understanding, and creating a supportive atmosphere.
- Deliver professional tutoring customized to each student's needs. Ability to provide clear, professional session notes to students and parents in a timely manner
- Available to tutor 2 + days a week after school and/or on weekends for at least 2 semesters
- Tutors must be able to achieve scores at or above the 90th percentile on the ELA ACT sections and pass a background check.
- Must be professional, reliable, and demonstrate strong communication skills.
- Must have reliable transportation, a dependable phone with texting capability.
- Legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for current or future sponsorship
- Understand that this is in-person tutoring with occasional virtual sessions.
