Kumon Math and Reading Center of Des Plaines(downtown) is seeking a part-time learning center assistant.

Hours:

Wednesdays and Thursdays 3:30 to 7:00pm. We are searching for a bright, motivated, outgoing, friendly and qualified individual with good reading and writing skills and ability to teach math up to 8th grade. Applicant should have a desire to help students reach their full potential in a fast-paced team-oriented environment. This is an excellent opportunity for college students, retired educators, and people who are seeking for second part-time job. Qualification

• Long-term commitment a MUST (minimum of 1 year, this is a year-round part-time job)

• PREFERENCE

  given to candidates with prior Kumon or tutoring experience and/or university degree in relevant field of study
• Good instructional skills, an ability to observe, understand, and communicate with children
• Ability to convey ideas and concepts in a simple and clear manner to children
• Responsible, reliable, punctual, able to multi-task and follow directions

• Front Desk Assistant:

  check-in students, data entry, prepping materials, general office work
• Even reading tutors need to have basic math skills

Reading Assistant:

strong proficiency in high school literature
