Job Title:
Homebound Tutor
Job Summary:
The Homebound Tutor organizes and provides general or special education consultation and direct instruction to meet the needs of a student eligible for homebound services. The Homebound tutor assists the classroom teacher in the development of goals and objectives based on student needs, grade level, and state standards.
Qualifications:
Professional Educator's License LBS1 endorsement, preferred Bilingual, preferred
Evaluation:
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Staff. Reports to:
Director of Student Services Terms of Employment:
This is a part-time, hourly position at a rate of $35.00 per hour, based on student needs. The role does not include benefits.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Designing the homebound student education program so that it is consistent with the total educational philosophy and goals of the district. Working in coordination with other teachers in planning and developing the program. Using appropriate assessment instruments pertinent to areas of instruction. Preparing lesson plans for each student. Providing specialized instructional techniques through individual sessions designed to meet the educational needs of students. Providing parents with home strategies as appropriate to the student. Conferring with the classroom teacher as requested concerning any educational needs of a student. Completing progress reports on each student in the program as needed. Coordinating report card grades with classroom teachers. Attends IEP meetings as required.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Must have access to personal transportation Must demonstrate a record of effectiveness in their own teaching Must have excellent planning and organization skills Must have the ability to work collaboratively with others Must have strong verbal communication skills Must model a desire and willingness to continually learn
Physical Demands:
The physical demands of this position include frequent sitting and standing for extended periods of time. Dependent on class/student assignment the employee may occasionally lift, push, pull and/or move up to 50 pounds. Repetitive bending at the waist, as well as kneeling, stooping, and crouching to assist students, is also required. Employees may reach overhead as well as above the shoulders and horizontally.
