District 186 Middle and High Schools
DAYS PER YEAR
Varies (2 Days Per Week)
HOURS PER DAY
Based Upon Availability (Up to 6 Hours)
REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS
Must be at least 18 years of age Requires tutors to participate in AVID curriculum training online Must be willing to meet regularly to discuss student progress and concerns Requires the ability to effectively work with students of diverse backgrounds Keeps informed of and adheres to school regulations and policies Be flexible in meeting the needs of the school Maintain prompt and regular attendance for each tutoring session Strong math and science backgrounds preferred Current university or college students or some college experience preferred
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
Tutor students in small study groups and assist them in all subject areas relevant to them and determine concepts that need to be re-taught Evaluate student binders, calendars, class and Cornell notes, learning logs, etc. Conduct brainstorming and clustering sessions Conduct and determine concepts that need to be focused upon in tutorial sessions Perform other duties as assigned.
