JOB SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Crown Point Nursing Track Director, the nursing tutor assists students in content from nursing classes. Serving University of Saint Francis students and the Saint Francis community is paramount.MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES/ACTIVITIES
Tutor students in nursing class content Interpret pertinent course materials such as syllabi,, course/homework instructions, or any educational information that will assist in the student's learning experience Facilitate student's understanding of nursing course objectives and clarification of content Maintain attendance documentation of tutoring sessions Collaborate with faculty to develop review activities that enhance student understanding Maintain student confidentiality according to FERPA guidelinesMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education Associate degree in Nursing Licensure/Certification A current Indiana RN license required Experience Current knowledge of the Medical/Surgical nursing through at least 1 year of relevant work experience within the last 5 years Knowledge and Skills Competence in educational principles and techniques used in higher education classrooms, laboratory and clinical settings Knowledge of the profession including theory and practice, procedures, and regulations Proficiency in interpersonal and communication skills (verbal, written and electronic) necessary to interact effectively with students, faculty, professional staff, administration, clinical affiliates, and the community Professional Development The Nursing Tutor is expected to demonstrate a commitment to learning and growth by: Fulfill the Code of Ethics of the University and the profession Participating in activities that enhance personal and professional growth and renewal. Expanding knowledge in their area of specialty on an ongoing basis. Listing specific development needs they have identified annually and including a plan of action and time frame to accomplish. Creating appropriate goals to accomplish annually and assess achievement at the end of the fiscal year. Attending in services as directed to update knowledge and skills.Career Insights for Tutor
