Job Description
Cast Member City Year seeks AmeriCorps Members to serve full-time in public schools, supporting students' academic and social-emotional growth. In this education-focused role, you'll provide tutoring, mentor students, assist in classrooms, and lead small-group interventions. You'll collaborate with school staff and a diverse team to create a positive learning environment. City Year offers comprehensive training, leadership development, and exposure to education and youth development careers in a mission-driven, inclusive culture dedicated to advancing educational equity. Provide in-class academic support and tutoring in core subjects Lead small-group and one-on-one interventions for students needing additional support Build positive relationships with students to encourage engagement and attendance Support classroom management and a positive learning environment Collect and track student progress data to inform interventions Collaborate with teachers, school staff, and fellow AmeriCorps members Participate in ongoing training, coaching, and professional development Assist with school-wide events and initiatives that build a positive school climate Model City Year's values of service, equity, and inclusion Communicate regularly with supervisors about progress and challenges Tutoring and academic support Classroom management support Youth mentorship Data tracking and documentation Small-group facilitation Basic technology and productivity tools (e.g., Google Suite, MS Office) Communication (verbal and written) Team collaboration Time management and organization Cultural competency and working with diverse communities Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance Life Insurance 401k Must be a U.S. citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident Must pass a background check per AmeriCorps requirements Commitment to full-time AmeriCorps service term Experience working or volunteering with youth preferred
