Job Description

The Canton Public Schools is looking for a part-time math tutor to work with Grade 6 students in need of math intervention. The tutor schedule is anticipated to be 5 days/week totaling between 16-19.5 total hours per week beginning in late September through late May. Preferred candidates will have familiarity with delivering targeted small group instruction based on current assessment data. Tutors plan for small group instruction using district provided high quality, evidence based materials. Tutors will be required to keep notes on student progress and will participate in writing brief progress reports for students on their caseload.

Tutors will work collaboratively with the Grade 6 teams, the Math Dept Head, Principals, and the Instructional Coach. We are most interested in finding the best candidate for the position. Qualified candidates will:

Create lesson plans, aligned with current state and district standards, which drive instruction through formative assessment and differentiation Provide consistent, immediate feedback on student learning and ask analytical questions that elicit students' responses that incorporate prior knowledge, life experience and interests that are directly related to the content objective

Collaborate with colleagues and administration in analyzing data in order to positively impact student learning

Communicate effectively with students, families, colleagues, and administrators

Possess a growth mindset and openness to different approaches to learning

Bring enthusiasm and excitement to learning math Possess effective communication skills

Deliver small group instruction

Additional Requirements:

MA Elementary Certification preferred

SEI Endorsement preferred

Familiarity with RTI

Experience using research based reading programs

Familiarity with the Massachusetts Math Curriculum Frameworks

Familiarity with science of reading aligned practices and the reading workshop model

Hourly rate: starting at $33.31
