About the student 12th grade student The student needs to work with a tutor for support with Algebra 2. The student is an 12th grader attending Worcester Technical High School. He is studying carpentry at this vocational trade school and needs assistance in Algebra 2. He has ADD and flunked this class last year and is now retaking it. He want to work with a tutor throughout the school year. It would be beneficial if the tutor could provide a fresh perspective or unique approach for a better understanding of the concepts of math, especially as it relates to problem solving. Homework assistance and test prep would also be needed throughout the school year. The student needs the tutor to provide best practices in improved study habits, organizational skills, time management, and holding him accountable by keeping him on task. The goal is to provide some ongoing support to help improve the student's math skills. The family wants 1.5 hour (90 min) sessions once a week between 2:30pm-7pm any day Monday through Friday. The family is seeking a tutor who can meet at their home in Worcester in the Quinsigamond Village neighborhood not far from Greenwood Park. Qualifications Ideal candidates have prior experience working with high school students. Ideal candidates will have prior experience teaching/tutoring high school math. Ideal candidates will have a teaching certification. Willing to travel within your preferred local radius to meet the student (typically 5-10 miles) Due to insurance requirements, applicants must not be a minor.
