Job Description:
TLC, The Treatment and Learning Centers, is seeking an experienced academic tutor to provide individualized instruction to middle school, high school, and college students in reading comprehension, written expression, executive functioning, study skills, college readiness, and standardized test preparation. This is a part-time (5-10 hours per week) position based in our outpatient center in Rockville, MD. We are seeking a tutor who is passionate about helping students with varying needs including neurodiverse profiles and learning disabilities to strengthen academic skills, develop independence, build confidence, and achieve success in school, college, and beyond. Come and be part of a collaborative team! The Treatment and Learning Centers (TLC) is a private, nonprofit organization founded in 1950. Each year, TLC's programs serve more than 2,000 neurodiverse individuals with a wide range of educational, developmental, and mental health needs. Our interdisciplinary team includes psychologists, counselors, speech-language pathologists, occupational therapists, tutors, and educators who work together to help students and families achieve meaningful success. Competitive hourly rate of $40- 44 per hour, depending on experience.
Experience and Skills:
Job Requirements for theTutor:
Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred in Education, English, Reading, Special Education, or a related field Strong background in reading comprehension, writing instruction, and academic support Experience working with neurodivergent students with learning differences MUST have experience tutoring or teaching middle school, high school, and/or college students, particularly students requiring differential learning approaches Excellent writing, communication, executive functioning, and organizational skills Familiarity with standardized test preparation strategies Ability to motivate students and adapt instruction to different learning styles Hours and Expectations- TLC is open until 7pm Monday
- Thursday and until 5pm on Fridays. Saturday hours are 8:00 AM
- 2:00 PM Candidates must be available to work after-school and/or evening hours.
