NUMBER OF MONTHS PER YEAR 10 POSITION PURPOSE
Under limited supervision, organizes and presents general instruction as well as presents enrichment and academic support in an instructional environment that will support students in learning subject matter and skills that will contribute to their educational and social development.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Ability to meet the needs of all learners. Ability to coordinate and continuously support instruction. Ability to analyze situations, determine possible options, and make appropriate decisions based on the facts. Must be able to use a variety of equipment and classroom tools such as computers, copiers Ability to read a variety of correspondence, reports, handbooks, forms, lists, etc. Ability to prepare correspondence, simple reports, forms, instructional materials, etc. using prescribed format. Ability to record and deliver information, to explain procedures, to follow oral and written instructions. Ability to manage instructional time. Ability to manage student behavior. Ability to consult with parents, teachers and the community to enhance the learning of students. Ability to monitor student performance. Ability to interact within the educational environment. Ability to perform non-instructional duties as assigned.
MINIMUM EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in an applicable field for applicable level(s) but will consider non-certified personnel with experience working with children
CERTIFICATION AND LICENSE REQUIREMENTS
Valid driver's license issued by the NC Department of Motor Vehicles Prefer NC teaching license in the subject area that will be taught
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Uses instructional and enrichment materials suitable for students Provides supplemental instruction in Reading Follows curriculum and can make informed decisions based on the student's level. Provides individual and group support designed to meet individual needs and motivate students. Establishes and maintains standards of student management required to achieve effective participation in all activities. Provides appropriate support and enrichment activities for students to meet school/district policies, goals, and objectives. Maintains inventory records. Experience with varied forms of technology. Performs other related work as required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Work is considered medium physical work requiring the exertion of up to 50 pounds of force. Significant standing, walking, moving, climbing, carrying, bending, kneeling, crawling, reaching, handling, pushing, and pulling.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Employees in this position are required to work in indoor and outdoor environments, and come into direct contact with ABSS staff, students and the public.
