Job Description

Cast Member City Year seeks AmeriCorps Members to serve full-time in public schools, supporting students' academic and social-emotional growth. In this education-focused role, you'll provide tutoring, mentor students, assist in classrooms, and lead small-group interventions. You'll collaborate with school staff and a diverse team to create a positive learning environment. City Year offers comprehensive training, leadership development, and exposure to education and youth development careers in a mission-driven, inclusive culture dedicated to advancing educational equity. Provide in-class and small-group academic support to students in core subjects Offer mentoring and social-emotional support to help students build skills and confidence Collaborate with teachers to plan and deliver targeted interventions Monitor and document student progress and participation Support positive classroom management and school climate initiatives Engage families and school staff in supporting student success when appropriate Participate in City Year-led training, coaching, and professional development Contribute to a collaborative, inclusive team culture focused on educational equity Tutoring and academic support Classroom support and management Youth mentoring Basic data tracking and documentation Communication (verbal and written) Collaboration and teamwork Time management and organization Cultural competency and sensitivity Conflict de-escalation basics Basic computer and email proficiency Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance Life Insurance Eligible to serve in AmeriCorps (meets citizenship and background check requirements) Ability to commit to a full-time 10-12 month service term Experience working or volunteering with youth (preferred) Bilingual skills (preferred)
