The number of assigned tutoring hours may vary based on student enrollment, subject demand, and the availability selected by the tutor. Who We Are Looking For We are seeking tutors who: Have a strong understanding of middle and high school mathematics. Can explain difficult concepts clearly and in more than one way. Are patient with students who may feel discouraged, anxious, or frustrated by math. Can connect with students and make math feel more understandable and approachable. Are dependable, professional, organized, and communicative. Are comfortable adapting instruction to meet different learning needs. Are willing to complete a math skills assessment. Math Subjects May Include Middle school mathematics Pre Algebra Algebra I Geometry Algebra II Precalculus SAT and PSAT Math, if qualified Applicants should identify the subjects they are fully comfortable teaching independently. Primary Responsibilities Provide personalized math instruction to students in grades 6 through 12. Identify skill gaps and provide targeted instruction and practice. Break mathematical concepts into clear and manageable steps. Teach problem solving strategies and encourage students to explain their reasoning. Help students complete school assignments while also strengthening underlying skills. Maintain accurate session notes. Communicate student progress and concerns to SCA leadership. Arrive prepared and on time for all accepted tutoring sessions. Qualifications Strong knowledge of the mathematics subjects the applicant intends to teach. Previous tutoring, teaching, classroom, or youth education experience is preferred. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Reliable transportation to and from our center in Garfield. Availability for at least two weekday evenings each week. Availability for at least one Saturday per month. Ability to pass a math skills assessment during the interview process.
