The organization provides in-office, online and in-home tutoring, homeschool support, homework help, test preparation, and college counseling. Each student's needs are assessed individually, and customized programs are created to address specific academic goals, areas of concern, and learning styles. Tutors work side by side with learners on tasks such as understanding challenging coursework, developing writing assignments, and preparing for standardized tests like the SAT and ACT. Tahoe Tutoring focuses on collaborative, goal-oriented support to help students build confidence and achieve meaningful academic progress. Role Description We have a few open positions for part-time and full-time tutors. The position is an on-site position based in Incline Village, NV. In this role, the tutor provides individualized academic support in subjects such as math, reading, writing, science, Spanish and test preparation, following Tahoe Tutoring's student-centered approach. Day-to-day responsibilities include assessing student needs, planning and delivering tutoring sessions, helping with homework and projects, and guiding students through skills such as problem-solving, reading comprehension, and essay writing. The tutor collaborates with students to set goals, track progress, and adjust instructional strategies as needed. This role also involves clear communication with families and staff, maintaining a professional learning environment, and using Tahoe Tutoring's resources and methods to support each learner's success. Qualifications Strong instructional skills in one or more of the core academic areas and test prep (e.g., math, reading, writing, science, Spanish, and SAT/ACT prep) and the ability to explain concepts clearly. Ability to assess student needs, customize learning plans, and adapt methods to different ages, skill levels, and learning styles. Excellent communication, active listening, and interpersonal skills for building rapport with students and collaborating with families. Patience, reliability, and strong organizational skills, including consistent session preparation and accurate tracking of student progress. Prior tutoring, teaching, or mentoring experience in educational settings is preferred. Comfort working on-site in a learning center environment in Incline Village, NV, with adherence to all center policies and procedures. Bachelor's degree, current enrollment in a degree program, or equivalent academic background in relevant subject areas is highly beneficial.
