Job Description:
The Learning Center is seeking students to provide one-on-one, group, and embedded peer tutoring and academic support for courses in which they earned a final grade of A or B. Hiring decisions will be made in consultation with the faculty who oversee the courses for which peer tutors are selected. Peer tutors are trained and supervised by the Learning Center and work closely with faculty to provide tutoring in labs and classrooms when requested.
GENERAL FUNCTIONS
Provide individual and small-group tutoring, participate in embedded courses, and communicate effectively with students, staff, and instructors. SKILLS Dependable, punctual, and able to maintain confidentiality Basic computer and data entry skills Strong customer service and communication skills Comfortable working one-on-one, in groups, and in classroom settings Respect for the diversity of the GCC community DUTIES Provide tutoring in assigned spaces and modalities Accurately record tutoring sessions in compliance with FERPA Follow Learning Center and GCC procedures Attend required trainings, meetings, and evaluations
EXPECTATIONS
Maintain professionalism and quality customer service Demonstrate reliability, responsibility, and openness to feedback Accurately record and submit time worked following payroll deadlines
Requirements:

Must be a current student of GCC Must have earned a final grade of A or B in courses for which they provide academic support
Additional Information:
Tutor positions are temporary, part-time and assigned on a semester basis as needed. Evening and weekend hours may be required. This position requires staff to provide services from the Batavia Campus.
