Job Description
Academic Tutors Central Ohio Technical College (COTC) is currently seeking qualified candidates for tutoring roles. Job Summary Provide academic tutoring to assigned students in person or virtually to support their success in enrolled courses. Assist students in developing course-related knowledge, study strategies, and problem-solving skills while fostering an encouraging, professional and respectful learning environment. Tutors may be assigned to any Student Success Center location, including the Newark, Coshocton, Pataskala, or Mount Vernon campuses. Essential Duties Provide academic tutoring to assigned students in individual or small-group settings. Assist students with understanding course-related concepts and developing academic skills. Help students develop effective study strategies, problem-solving skills, and independent learning habits. Adapt tutoring approaches to meet individual student needs. Foster an encouraging, professional, and supportive learning environment. Serve as a positive role model for students. Communicate effectively and professionally with students, faculty, staff, and other members of the college community. Maintain a safe environment characterized by respect and inclusion. Perform other related duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree or higher in the subject area for which tutoring is provided. Previous experience in higher education. Exceptional communication skills. Ability to demonstrate professional and appropriate behavior that serves as a positive role model. Ability to foster and maintain a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for students, staff, faculty, and other members of the community. Preferred Qualifications Previous teaching experience. Previous tutoring, mentoring, or instructional experience. Hourly rate of pay is $17.38. Applications are reviewed as tutoring needs arise.
