Salary Location Gresham Campus, OR Job Type Part-time Faculty and Tutor Job Number 2025-00122 Division Instruction Opening Date 06/18/2026 Job Summary and Responsibilities/Duties Job Summary Assists students in automotive lab courses to understand and complete lab activities, and reinforce, review and clarify course-specific learning objectives. Essential Duties Provides academic assistance to students that supports MHCC course content and instructional methods. Supports effective instruction by tutoring students in lab, individually and/or in small groups, facilitating discussions, reviewing class projects, reinforcing curriculum and content learning objectives, discussing test preparation strategies and providing homework assistance. Identifies and supports the diverse needs of individual learners; refers students with non-tutorial needs to other campus resources, as appropriate. Reviews course-specific instructional materials as provided by students and instructors. Provides routine clerical support related to student tutoring programs and objectives; operates a variety of lab equipment, hardware, software and other technologies. Additional Duties Performs all other related duties as assigned. Minimum and Desired Qualifications Minimum Qualifications Associate's degree in automotive or related field OR two years of automotive industry experience that would provide the required knowledge and experience. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered. Preferred Qualifications Associate's degree in automotive or related field. Graduation from MHCC in automotive. Working Conditions and Important Information Working Conditions Work is typically performed primarily in the automotive classrooms and labs with hazards and demands typical to an automotive shop. Salary Placement Part-time Tutors are paid based on accumulated work hours according to the salary schedule below; initial salary placement for all tutors will start at level 1, per the guidelines in the Collective Bargaining Agreement and in accordance with all applicable state and federal laws. 15 5 4001 or more $38.82 Sick Leave New hires will receive eight (8) hours of sick leave upon hire. An ILC instructor will receive one hour per term of paid sick leave per ILC, which includes Special Loading. An hourly instructor or tutor will receive one hour of paid sick leave per 11 hours of employment. Unused sick leave will accumulate up to a maximum of 80 hours and be available for use in subsequent academic terms. Tuition Waiver Plan Each employee will be eligible for a full tuition waiver, which is equivalent to 24 credits, for each term in which the employee is working for the College. Such waiver may be used for tuition for credit courses or the fee in lieu of tuition for noncredit courses (commonly called Fee B). Such tuition waivers are not cumulative. However, an employee may use a tuition waiver in the term immediately following the term in which the waiver was earned. Employees and their spouses/domestic partners will pay only course-specific fees. Tuition waiver(s) may be assigned by the employee to his/her immediate family (to one or amongst the family) to be used in the term in which the waiver is earned by the employee or the term immediately following the term in which the waiver was earned.
