Overview At the Center for Black Excellence, we believe in and enable every Black child to thrive. Through our 3rd-grade High-Dosage Tutoring Program, our goal is to connect students to 8,000 hours of out-of-school enrichment by the end of eighth grade through our
E.T.H.O.S.
(Eight Thousand Hours of Out-of-School) Enrichment Initiative. As a Reading Tutor, you will work directly with elementary-aged children to strengthen literacy skills, promote confidence, and foster positive learning experiences. This position lets you make a meaningful impact in the community while building professional skills in communication, leadership, and mentoring. Experience gained in this role is valuable preparation for careers in education, social services, or any field that values teamwork and problem-solving. Training & Skill Development Tutors will receive training before meeting with assigned students Duties & Reponciblities Provide one-on-one reading instruction for 3rd grade elementary students Support students in practicing reading fluency, comprehension, and vocabulary development Encourage and motivate students to build confidence and persistence as readers Collaborate with site coordinator to align tutoring with literacy goals Prepare and organize reading space before student arrival Maintain a safe, positive, and supportive learning environment Serve as a positive role model for students Abiltiy to work with students in person and in virtual settings Other duties as assigned

Time:
2:00 pm - 4:00 pm (Mondays & Wednesdays); 3:30 pm - 4:30 pm (Fridays) Tutors must be able to work between 6 and 9 hours per week
