Student Support Specialist/Tutor PA Migrant Education Program Allentown, PA Job Details Full-time $19 - $20 an hour 1 day ago Benefits Health insurance 401(k) 401(k) matching Qualifications School experience Experience working with 12th graders Family collaboration in education Education Working with students Working with families Social Work Home visits (communication methods) Full Job Description K-12th Grade Tutor Minimum requirements are a bachelor's degree in education, social work, or other related areas, and previous experience working in a school or other experience involving direct services to children. Must have Knowledge of educational issues or teaching experience; knowledgeable of appropriate support services and agencies and ability to assist parents/families in promoting educational achievement. Bilingual (Spanish/English or any other language) is preferred but not required. Multicultural experience is a plus. Attendance is extremely important, occasional evening or overnight workshops are required; evening and weekend sessions/home visits/parent involvement activities may also be required. Must be able to lift and carry medium loads; must be able to navigate uneven ground, stairs, porches, and steps; must have the stamina to travel and provide services within the same workday. The ability to provide all state-mandated clearances related to providing services to children is a pre-employment condition. This position is not direct employment with the university but with the PA Department of Education Migrant Education Program. The Migrant Education Program is only supported by Millersville University.
