Position Information Requisition Number Stu820P Position Type Student Worker Department Department of Student Workers Job Title Student Worker - TUTOR Dept of Government, Law, & International Relations - AY 2026-2027 Classification Student Worker Pay Rate $10.00/hr Position Summary Information Hours per week Up to 20 hrs/week Days Worked Flexible Hours/Shift worked Flexible Posting Detail Information Job Summary/Basic Function The Department of Government, Law, & International Relations is seeking tutors to attend tutoring hours and assist students as needed. Required Qualifications Must be a current GOVT major in good academic standing during the time of employment. Must have taken one or more of the four required Core Course required of a GOVT major:
GOVT 111
(Intro to American Government)
GOVT 221
(Intro to Comparative Politics)
GOVT 231
(Intro to Political Theory)
GOVT 251
(Intro to Global Politics) Students tutoring must have a B+ or higher in the course(s) they are tutoring. Must have approval from Government Supervisor (currently Dr. Adam Lawrence). Must complete 3 required clearances (PA Criminal Background, Child Abuse History, and FBI Fingerprints). Preferred Qualifications Job Duties Tasks included but not limited to: Contacting individual tutees and arranging session times to meet with the assigned tutee. Maintaining records for group tutoring sessions. Preparing for tutoring sessions. Promptly report hours, tutee attendance and other information as needed via email to the coordinator. Working Conditions and Physical Effort Must be able to sit and work with students during entire tutoring session. Posting Open Date 08/24/2026 Posting Close Date 10/30/2026 Special Instructions to Applicants Previous experience is not required. Must have a B+ or higher in the course(s) they will be tutoring in. Must complete the three required clearances PA Criminal Background Child Abuse FBI Fingerprint Cover letter and resume are optional.
