  • 30/hour Tutors & Friends is a growing academic support company seeking an experienced Chemistry Tutor to work with high school and college students.
We are specifically looking for someone with a strong chemistry background who is comfortable tutoring college-level General Chemistry with minimal preparation time . This position is ideal for a chemistry major, graduate student, science professional, or experienced tutor who has a deep working knowledge of chemistry and enjoys helping students understand challenging concepts. Applicants who are also comfortable with Organic Chemistry, Biochemistry, or other upper-level chemistry courses are especially encouraged to apply. Subjects We Commonly Support General Chemistry High School Chemistry Honors Chemistry AP Chemistry College General Chemistry I College General Chemistry II Organic Chemistry I & II Stoichiometry and Chemical Reactions Thermochemistry and Thermodynamics Chemical Equilibrium Acids and Bases Kinetics Electrochemistry Molecular Structure and Bonding Laboratory Concepts and Calculations Schedule Requirements Applicants must have consistent availability during peak tutoring hours: Monday through Friday afternoons and evenings Availability between 4:00 PM and 9:00 PM Pacific Time is strongly preferred. Responsibilities Conduct one-on-one chemistry tutoring sessions Support students in high school, AP, and college-level chemistry courses Clearly explain complex chemistry concepts and calculations Guide students through homework and practice problems while emphasizing conceptual understanding Identify gaps in foundational knowledge and help students strengthen them Adapt instruction to different learning styles and ability levels Prepare appropriately for sessions based on materials provided by students Maintain professional and responsive communication with the Tutors & Friends team Qualifications Strong academic background in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related field Must be highly comfortable with college-level General Chemistry I and II Strong quantitative and problem-solving skills Ability to explain difficult concepts clearly and intuitively Dependable, professional, and responsive Ability to build rapport with high school and college students Prior tutoring, teaching, TA, or mentoring experience strongly preferred Experience tutoring AP Chemistry and/or Organic Chemistry is a plus Compensation $22
  • 30 per hour Compensation is based on qualifications, chemistry expertise, tutoring experience, and lesson format.
