This openingis primarily in person and will work in the Chaiken Center for Student Success to provide tutoring in Writing across the curriculum to undergraduate university students. The tutor will also develop workshops, structured academic initiatives, as well as other collaborative opportunities that engage faculty, student organizations, and other members of the campus community. The Professional Tutor will interact with faculty and staff to promote the services of the Chaiken Center and to ensure that tutoring services align with the course objectives. The Professional Tutor will be responsible for maintaining a record for each student tutored, e.g., Starfish Outcome Notes, Client Report Forms, Satisfaction Surveys, etc. Because of the needs of the campus, the ideal candidate will have a strong social/behavioral sciences background. Job Duties Provides individual Writing tutoring for students. Assigns practice exercises as needed. Mentors students in completion and review of class assignments. Assists students in preparing for exams. Assists students in developing stronger reading comprehension skills and greater self-directed learning strategies. Creates and maintains a Writing-focused Canvas course shell which will serve as a repository ofWriting resources tutors can use as they work with their students. Monitors scheduling & documentation through Starfish.
